The Chargify Twitter account
has been responding to complaints all day, and the change has sparked a popular thread
on Hacker News. Chargify has responded to the negative feedback by announcing the addition of a ‘Bootstrapping’ plan, which runs $39/month for up to 100 customers and will only be available to Chargify users who signed up before today. But anyone relying on a free plan is out of luck, and it’s not trivial to make the jump from one payment system to another.
...
Chargify isn’t the only company in this space that’s had to change its pricing model. In March Recurly
, which launched with pricing based on per-transaction fees rather than a monthly rate, moved to a flat-rate model. And, as you’d expect, some of its customers weren’t pleased
.
My take on this is simple. You should keep your customers happy. You should find the right words or right customers, either one is okay. However, do not take an existing mass and throw it against the wall.
In this specific case, they had to run a long enough campaign to keep early adopters happy, and make the transition smooth. If the new customers who are unhappy but never bothered to take any steps during that campaign to secure their discount or free spot - well, shit happens, move on - however, do not screw up legitimate and loyal users ever.
Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked. We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects.
Damn, that was so freaking easy to understand that Google Wave wasn't a product with a clear purpose. It wasn't solving any single problem. I was really surprised to see Google coming up with this product, where Product Management is taken into such high levels. Anyways, no regrets, hopefully it'll free up some space for something worth trying.

This is not something I'd like to see while working with my phone line.
Horowitz said Google is considering separating Buzz from Gmail, so that people can participate independently from email. The company might also allow people on Buzz to claim new names and redirect anyone seeking them at their old profiles to the new locations. Horowitz says Google also continues to look at ensuring search is a good way for people to locate the “right” people, as well.
Google has responded quickly to some of the concerns raised this week. In a blog post Thursday, Buzz Product Manager Todd Jackson shared and explained three changes:
- More visible option to not show followers/people you follow on your public profile
- Ability to block anyone who starts following you
- More clarity on which of your followers/people you follow can appear on your public profile
Some users and industry watchers are still unimpressed with Google’s changes. It may be that ending the marriage of Buzz and Gmail is Google’s best option to address these ongoing concerns.
This is so funny.
My experience with Google Buzz was very mixed. It looks *great* at the same time as being *too much*. All this linkage of other sites and accounts gave me a strong feeling of the Friendfeed's chatroom applied to the wrong place. (I don't use Friendfeed, so excuse me offending, if I do.)
I'd say Buzz might be more interesting for me running separately though.
there are a lot of examples in the book that are completely wrong. The further you go in the book the worse it gets. Its like the author got exhausted by the end. ex:
1) a question will ask you about blue ribbons but will calculate due to green ribbons.
2) some of the combinatorics questions have missing combinations that the question is asking about. I can go on and on ... The book is very easy and has bunch of errors. Work with it at your own risk. BTW to put some weight behind my words: I have already taken GMAT and got above 700.
